HOW CAN I STAND OUT FROM EVERYONE ELSE?

The week of January 9 to January 15 has been a stressful, yet accomplished week. In the past few days I feel as if I was pushed to a new level of managing stress and learning how to use my time wisely as I completed my display board for the FISD Research Showcase as well as maintained my grades and studied for multiple cumulative tests in my other classes. Although completing these tasks were demanding, the main struggle of this week was effectively working on my original work. I constantly questioned myself this week on how to make my display board stand out from the rest of the ISM students who have chosen the same field of study as me. I was also controversial between the topic proposal and the original work proposal. I ended up including the original work proposal because I believe it showed more originality and more of my personality rather than introducing the topic, which is general and will be consistent throughout all of the ISM boards. In the upcoming week, my goal is to research and organize my original work further. Also, this week, during the Research Showcase, I want to build a stronger relationship with my mentor so that as mentor visits begin, we are comfortable around each other, which will result in a more positive learning experience. Lastly, I want to learn more about cancerous diseases that are treated by cardiothoracic surgeons. Any form of cancer is so detrimental to the patient and their families life, and I want to learn how cancer is detected, how it is treated, how chemotherapy works, and how malignant cancerous cells can be surgically removed.
