The week of January 23 to January 29 was a breather from the intensive amount of work that we had piled upon us the last several weeks with the FISD Research Showcase and our original work. In the past few days I feel as if I was able to effectively gain a solid plan for my final product that will reflect all of the research that I had done for my original work and original work assessment. Although completing these tasks were demanding, the main struggle of this week was effectively working and completing my original work and also coming up with the original work speech. I constantly questioned myself this week on how to make my original work speech stand out from the rest of the ISM students. I was also controversial between the proper formatting of my original work proposal and what aspects of the work that I should add on my original work versus what to add in the original work assessment. I ended up including the main gist of the original work and research as well as talking about the two interviews that I conducted to obtain higher level ideas. In the upcoming week, my goal is to research and organize my thoughts to built an artificial aortic valve for my final product. Also, this week, during the original work speeches, I want to build more confidence and attempt to minimize stuttering and filler words. Lastly, in the future, I want to learn more about cancerous diseases that are treated by cardiothoracic surgeons. Any form of cancer is so detrimental to the patient and their families life, and I want to learn how cancer is detected, how it is treated, how chemotherapy works, and how malignant cancerous cells can be surgically removed.
