During the week of October 16 to October 22, the key points to be noted included the completion of my third informational interview, writing an assessment over an interview from the previous week, and also completing the background check for Dr. William Brinkman. Also, the ISM students watched a creative video that inspired us to open our minds and start thinking about original work.

The main achievement of this week included of conducting my third informational interview with Dr. David Moore, a cardiothoracic surgeon at Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano. Dr. Moore gave me a lot of positive insight on the cardiothoracic surgical field, including the various technological advancements in the field as well as the programs and college courses that will help me achieve my goals of being a surgeon. The information that I was given was quite helpful, as I am currently a senior applying to college and choosing courses that can assist me towards achieving my goals.

Another achievement was finalizing my idea for original work. I am planning on learning various sutures and creating a book with the steps and future samples in it. Not only is this an aspect of surgery that will broaden my knowledge as a highschool student, but also will come in handy during medical school and residency. My overall goal for original work this year is to make something that could help me in the future, and I believe this book can definitely help me create that.

In the upcoming weeks, I will be making an official proposal of my idea for original work. Although it has been proven difficult so far, I will also work on obtaining more interviews from medical professionals. Finally, I will be creating a combined proposal with an ISM 2 student from Lone Star High School about a final product idea that we have for second semester.
