During the week of January 1 to January 7, the key accomplishments made in the second year of the independent Study and Mentorship program includes getting my publication selected to be presented in the American Society of Thermal Fluids Engineering Conference in Fort Lauderdale in Florida, progressing with my original work, and also creating my ISM 2 display board.

An accomplishment in recent weeks includes the selection of my publication in the American Society of Thermal and Fluid Engineering Conference. This is a national level conference where PhD students and professors from all around the nation submit research, and a panel of members choose the publications to be presented at a conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It is an honor to be selected by this committee.

Also, I have been practicing twelve sutures on a silicon suture pad, and by doing so, I have begun to gain steady hands and foundational skills that surgeons use in clinic, emergency room, and the operating room.

Lastly, in preparation for the annual FISD Research Showcase, I have been working on making my display board that showcases my first semester work in the ISM 2 program. In the upcoming weeks, I hope to continue working diligently on my original work and begin brainstorming for my final product.
